In the beginning................... Debonaire Cavies started on a snowy day in February 2003, when my daughter, Jenna, and I attended our first cavy show. We had hoped to find a showable longhaired cavy or two, and came home that day with our first Coronet and Silkie. We had little knowledge at that time about breeding and grooming, let alone showing them, but were very eager to learn. Little did we know that the breeders we first met that day were Mike and Brenda Keegan of Keegan's Kaper Kritters . Thank you Brenda and Mike for your kindness and friendship....it has meant so much to us to know that there are selfless and giving people willing to welcome and help people new to the fancy. As we enter 2008, we STILL have one of those original two cavies here in our caviary....she will live out her life here, holding a very special place in our hearts. As our journey continues...... We have grown from those original two cavies, and now share our home with a small herd of approximately 50-60 cavies, raising primarily Coronets and Silkies. We are located in Mullica Hill, NJ....in Southern New Jersey. Our intent to keep our herd small allows us to raise quality, healthy, and content cavies. Close attention is paid to their diet, and living conditions.....and although we do love to show, they are our pets first, and show and breeder animals, second. Priority is always given to their comfort and well-being.....and because we raise them with this standard in mind, we wish our cavies to go to others, who will also hold to that same standard. We have also gained new confidences and some very special friends....a special thank you goes to Heather Baskey(Red Rock Cavies),Tracy Corbeil( Fort York Cavies), and Megan Rygel( Glory & Co Cavies) for sharing their beautiful cavies with us....we are truly grateful for your friendship, advice and trust, and we hope, through our dedication, and breeding, to do justice to the lines that you have worked so hard to achieve.
